Offline audio converter —
install once, convert anywhere.

WAVR already converts on your device. Install it and it opens in its own window and keeps working on a plane, in a basement studio or on a festival field.

Install WAVR

Your browser installs apps from its own menu: look for the install icon in the address bar, or see the steps below for iPhone, iPad and Safari.

How WAVR works without a connection

The first time you open WAVR, your browser saves the whole app: the pages, the converter, the MP3 and FLAC encoders, the editor, the loudness meter and the BPM and key engine, well under 1 MB in all. After that, WAVR opens from that saved copy whenever there's no network. When you are online it checks for a newer version first, so you always run the latest one.

None of this changes where your audio goes. Online or offline, files are decoded and encoded in the tab and never uploaded.

Install on your device

  • Chrome, Edge, Dia and other Chromium browsers (Windows, Mac, Linux, ChromeOS, Android): click Install WAVR at the top of the page, or the install icon at the right of the address bar.
  • iPhone and iPad: open wavr.website in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
  • Safari on Mac (Sonoma or later): choose File → Add to Dock.
  • Firefox: if it doesn't offer to install WAVR, it still works offline in a Firefox tab after one visit.

Offline questions

Do I need to install WAVR to use it offline?

No. After one visit while online, WAVR also opens in the browser with no connection. Installing gives it its own window and an icon in your apps or on your home screen.

How much space does it take?

Well under 1 MB for the app itself. Converted files live in memory until you download them, so they don't fill up storage.

How do I get updates?

WAVR checks for a newer version every time it opens with a connection and uses it straight away. There is nothing to update by hand.

How do I remove it?

Uninstall it like any app (right-click the icon, or long-press on a phone). To clear the saved copy too, remove this site's data in your browser settings.
